We held our 2008 AGM on 4 April on an evening of appalling weather conditions which resulted in a slightly depressed turn out since, as we later found out, many members simply had to give up the attempt to get to the venue in the traffic conditions they encountered. At the AGM a number of new Councillors were elected, although our President, Punitha Govindasamy, kindly offered to continue her services, having been President for only half of the previous Term. There were no takers for the position of Secretary so Tony Clifford will continue in that role and Willie Kay will carry out the Treasurer’s duties for a further year. The AGM, held at the Freemason’s Lodge, attracted much welcome debate from the floor on the policies for operating the Club, which are all under study by the new Council. The event was followed by an excellent buffet meal and the evening closed with a quiz, set by our President.
